Mei Zhong

Zhong Mei graduated from the Third Military Medical University in 1983. She later received her MMed from Sun Yat-Sen Medical University in 1990, and her M.D. from Southern Medical University in 2007. In 1987, Professor Zhong completed the standardized training of resident doctors in obstetrics and gynecology at Nanfang Hospital of the First Military Medical University, and worked as an intern in various clinical departments.

Prof. Zhong is highly skilled at diagnosis and treatment of high-risk pregnancies, emergency and severe maternal rescue and prenatal diagnosis, genetic counseling, diagnosis and treatment of perinatal embolic diseases, perinatal infectious pathogens, intrauterine transmission of hepatitis B virus, etc. She especially has conducted research on early prenatal diagnosis and prevention of thalassemia and other genetic diseases.

Prof. Zhong has more than 30 years of clinical practice experience. In addition to focusing on obstetrics and gynaecology, Professor Zhong also studied at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Singapore in 2000.

Prof. Zhong is currently the leader of the Department of OB-GYN, Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University. She is also a member of the Perinatal Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and the chairman of the Perinatal Medicine Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association. She is a member of the Standing Committee of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Branch of the Provincial Medical Association, and the honorary president of the Guangdong Thalassemia Prevention Association.
