Biography

Dr. Tong graduated from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in 2004. After receiving a surgery master’s degree from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2007. She received 4-year of standardized residency training in critical care medicine in 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. In 2012, she worked as an intensivist in the 1st Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. In 2020, she received her critical care medicine doctorate degree of Sun Yat-sen University.

Before joining Guangzhou United Family Hospital, Dr. Tong had worked in the liver surgery ICU of the 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University for 5 years, the CCM department of the 1st Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University for 9 years. Dr. Tong specializes in liver transplantation, organ cluster transplantation, donor management, as well as perioperative treatment and organ support management for critically ill patients undergoing surgery such as hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. Specializing in the individualized treatment of sepsis, ARDS, and severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). She has rich practical experience in various extracorporeal life support technologies, including plasma exchange (PE), bilirubin adsorption (DPMAS), continuous blood purification (CBP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and mechanical ventilation (MV). In addition, Dr. Tong is good at various bedside operations and monitoring techniques, including emergency endotracheal intubation, CPR, arterial puncture, ultrasound guided deep venipuncture, and is good at rapid evaluation of patients’ conditions with bedside ultrasound (cardiac, pulmonary, diaphragm and abdominal ultrasound). Specializes in bedside bronchoscopy and various hemodynamic monitoring techniques (SWAN-Ganz, PICCO, etc.).

On the other hand, Dr. Tong was sent to Regensburg, Germany to learn ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) technology in 2015, Lund University in Sweden to learned the “Lund Concept” in 2016, and was trained CCM in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at RWTH Aachen University in Germany In 2019, she received multiple courses of AMEE training and obtained ESMEA certificate. Dr. Tong has brought these advanced theoretical technologies back to China, and actively carried out training on the skills of resident doctors.

In 2020, Dr. Tong combined her overseas ECMO training experience and clinical experience to design and develop an original and excellent ECMO high- fidelity simulation training course for anti-epidemic medical staff, which have been widely praised by medical staff. The relevant teaching article has been published in the “Chinese Journal of Medical Education”.

In addition, Dr. Tong Li, as one of the main authors, cooperated with other specialists in the field of organ transplantation in China, drafted and published China’s first “Expert Consensus on Prevention and Control of Infections Derived from Solid Organ Transplant Donors in China (2018)” and published her own clinical article on “J Infect Dis”,the article has contributed valuable clinical experience to the donor management during the perioperative period of organ transplantation in China.
