Biography

Dr. Zhao graduated from Sun Yat-sen Medical University with a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine in 1995 and a Master’s degree in General Surgery in 2003. After graduation, Dr. Zhao worked in minimally invasive surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, and general surgery for nearly 30 years in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. In 2002, he was employed as a lecturer at Sun Yat-sen University. Since 2018, he has been the deputy director of hepatobiliary surgery of the East Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and served as the teaching secretary and chief instructor of surgery.

During his experience, he inherited the valuable experience of many famous professors and experts in Zhongshan No. 1 Hospital, and improved and innovated his own clinical skills. In 1999, he went to Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital as a senior visiting scholar to study minimally invasive surgical techniques. In 2014, he went to Zhejiang University Run Run Shaw Hospital to study minimally invasive hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery techniques. In 2016, he worked as a core member of the Medical Team of Sun Yat-sen University to support local medical work in Biemba County, Tibet.

Dr. Zhao has rich experience in clinical diagnosis and treatment and skillful surgical techniques. He was one of the first doctors to do minimally invasive surgery. He is highly proficient in hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, thyroid, breast and other open and laparoscopic minimally invasive techniques. He has completed a variety of complex operations in general surgery, including a variety of liver lobectomy, biliary tract plastic surgery, hilar cholangiocarcinoma surgery, radical gallbladder cancer, pancreaticoduodenectomy, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer radical treatment, breast tumors and other operations. He is also proficient in a variety of minimally invasive operations in abdominal surgery: such as laparoscopic liver lobectomy, gallbladder and bile duct stones inside and outside the liver, liver cyst fenestration, gastrointestinal benign and malignant diseases, appendix gangrene abscess, various abdominal external hernia minimally invasive repair, laparoscopic exploration biopsy and other surgical methods. At the same time, he is excellent at dealing with hemorrhoids, perianal abscess, anal fissure, anal fistula, and other drug and surgical treatments.

He was also the first doctor to master the technique of thoracoscopic sympathetic ganglionectomy for the treatment of hand hidrosis. He has unique experience in the judgment and management of abdominal infection and postoperative complications, and is able to reliably carry out operations with few complications and quick recovery time.

Dr. Zhao is also able to effectively control the whole process of disease treatment and accurate perioperative treatment, with timely prediction and accurate observation to ensure smooth and rapid recovery of patients.

Dr. Zhao won the honorary title of ‘Nanyue Young Good Doctor’ in 2018.
