Dr. Mei graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Wannan Medical College in 1994. In 2005, he obtained a Ph.D. in Internal Medicine from Sun Yat-sen University.

Dr. Mei has been working in the Department of Cardiology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University for over 20 years. Since taking over the leadership role at the Department of Cardiology East Campus in June 2016, he has transformed it into the largest and most comprehensive cardiovascular disease treatment center in eastern Guangzhou.

He has been responsible for the establishment of the catheterization laboratory since February 2013 onwards, where he pioneered several new coronary intervention techniques in the eastern Guangzhou area, such as intravascular ultrasound, rotational atherectomy of coronary artery plaque, and FFR.

Dr. Mei specializes in the emergency and critical care of cardiovascular diseases. He is proficient in performing level 4 coronary interventional operations, and actively promotes the application of new clinical diagnostic and treatment technologies, including the latest advancements in coronary intervention and the use of hemodynamic supports.

Dr. Mei actively contributes greatly to society, having participated in medical aid missions to Tibet on two occasions, working for over a year in the Changdu Bianba area. From November to December 2022, he served as a member of the Pazhou Field Hospital medical team, and as the head physician and district leader at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, successfully completing all assigned tasks.

In recent years, Dr. Mei has published numerous papers in important domestic and international journals such as International Heart, Heart, and Journal of Thoracic Disease. He has also authored two monographs, including “Emergency Symptom Diagnosis” and “Heart Failure: Basics and Clinical Practice.” Dr. Mei has led one project under the Guangdong Province Science and Technology Plan and one project under the Guangdong Province Natural Science Foundation.

Dr. Mei has been honored as an individual contributor in the fight against SARS/Third-Class Merit, and awarded as the fifth “Yangcheng Good Doctor.”

Dr. Mei has served in several academic organizations in China. He was a member of the Vice Chairman of the Cardiovascular Committee of the Guangdong Health Management Society, Standing Committee Member of the Cardiovascular Intervention Professional Committee of the Guangdong Medical Association, Standing Committee Member of the Cardiovascular Professional Committee of the Eastern Guangzhou Medical Forum, Executive Committee Member of the Cardiovascular and Rehabilitation Technology Professional Committee of the Guangdong Biomedical Engineering Society, and Standing Committee Member of the Heart Source Stroke Management Branch of the Guangdong Medical Industry Association.
