Biography
Dr. Kelly Xia obtained a Bachelor of Medicine degree, a Master’s degree in Pediatrics, and a Doctorate in Pediatrics in China, and studied hematology and oncology at the Medical College of Georgia and Children’s Medical Center in the US for three years. Dr. Xia obtained an MBA degree from the University of Minnesota, USA.
Dr. Kelly Xia has been engaged in pediatric clinical work for over 33 years, specializing in child healthcare, child nutritional counseling, child growth and development and behavioral assessment guidance, as well as treatment of pediatric respiratory, allergic, digestive, rheumatological, skin, blood, and oncology diseases. Studying under Professor Huang Shaoliang who is famous for Hematological Oncology she followed the team to achieve the breakthrough of China’s first umbilical cord blood hematopoietic stem cell treatment for thalassemia.
Dr. Kelly Xia obtained the title of Professor of Pediatrics at Sun Yat-sen University. Her master’s degree research mainly focused on the tracking of minimal residual disease in leukemia, and her doctoral research mainly focused on the detection of cytokines in programmed apoptosis of tumor cells. Clinically, she has profound expertise in leukemia and lymphoma. She teaches medical undergraduates, postgraduate students, and resident doctors, and has trained multiple pediatric master’s degree students. She is also a special expert for several well-known parenting media. Dr. Xia is a certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training instructor by the US Heart Association and the first instructor in South China to provide fully English-language PALS training. Dr. Xia has led 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects related to tumor research, won 4 Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects (in the field of tumor research), and has published dozens of papers in national and international medical journals.
Dr. Xia began serving as the Medical Director of Guangzhou United Family Clinic in January 2011. During her tenure, the medical team at Guangzhou United Family Clinic developed rapidly, with the pediatric team in particular becoming a star team in the pediatric field of Guangzhou. From 2018 to 2020, she served as the CMO of Guangzhou United Family Hospital, and in 2021, she served as the GM of Guangzhou United Family Hospital, leading the team to achieve a leap from 0 to 1 in the process of preparation, establishment, and opening of the hospital.
Under her leadership, the hospital successfully applied for the status of a Class II general hospital smoothly in July 2018, and has since been operating efficiently that it attracts many high-value individuals in South China and executives from consulates in Guangzhou and foreign enterprises to seek medical treatments. Dr. Xia herself has become a benchmark figure for cross-border development from public hospitals to foreign-funded hospitals in Guangdong, and has rich experience and achieved remarkable results in various aspects, including government liaison at all levels in the Greater Bay Area, interpretation and implementation of medical policies, medical market analysis and investment, hospital quality management and performance improvement, medical staff management, and expert resource management. She was honored as the “2017 Pediatric Expert with Reputation Influence” and the leader of the “2017 Influential Team” by China National Radio. Dr. Xia led the Guangzhou United Family medical team to successfully obtain the honor of ranking 4th nationwide among the top 50 private hospitals in the 2019 China Medical Brand Communication Top 100 List, and passed the JCI certification with high scores in 2021. In 2023, she was honored as one of the top 50 outstanding non-public medical institutions in the Best Brand Communication Medical Institutions. In 2024, she was honored as one of the top 300 outstanding private medical institutions by Ailibi. Dr. Xia led the participating team’s Pharmacy Management and Outpatient Early Warning System project to stand out among 616 cases from 272 medical institutions nationwide, winning the second prize in the finals of the 4th Ailibi Medical Innovation Competition. In 2025, Dr. Xia led efficient collaboration among teams to successfully transform Guangzhou United Family Hospital into a benchmark implementation unit for the Guangzhou Hong Kong-Macao Medicine and Medical Device Connectivity Project, becoming a demonstration window for policy innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to connect with international medical resources. With outstanding contributions and profound professional accumulation in this field, Dr. Xia was appointed as the deputy director of the Hong Kong-Macao Medicine and Medical Device Connectivity Professional Committee of the Guangzhou Hospital Association, becoming an important member of the core expert group in this field, and was also recognized as an outstanding representative of private medical institutions.
Dr. Kelly Xia joined the China Democratic National Construction Association in 2007, became a member of the Women’s Working Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the China Democratic National Construction Association in 2014, and has been committed to adolescent health education for many years, participating in and organizing numerous public welfare activities, speeches, and online lectures on adolescent health.
