Yifan ZHAO

Dr. Zhao graduated from the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in 2000, completed his residency in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, and received his medical degree in 2017 having been promoted to associate chief physician in 2012.

Before joining United Family Healthcare, Dr. Zhao worked in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital for 18 years gaining a wealth of experience. Dr. Zhao is proficient in labor analgesia, obstetrics and gynecology anesthesia, head/neck, thoracic, cardio-vascular, and orthopedic surgeries. He is also experienced in anesthesia for critically ill patients and also the management of difficult airways. He has mastered novel techniques of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and fast evaluations using lung/cardiac ultrasound in critically ill patients.

Additionally, Dr. Zhao has rich international work experience. He was a visiting scholar at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and 2008. In 2013, Dr. Zhao travelled as an expatriate field worker to the Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) operated Kunduz Trauma Center in Afghanistan to work on trauma rescue for local civilians.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Zhao has authored several SCI papers focusing on anesthesia and brain development and anesthesia and tumors, acquiring multiple research grants. Dr. Zhao has also won an outstanding teacher award in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital and has won multiple other titles in various teaching competitions in Sun Yat-sen University. He is also an appointed council member for the Critical Care Medicine Branch of the China Association for Disaster and Emergency Rescue Medicine (CADERM), deputy leader of the first management group of Anesthesiologist Branch of Guangzhou Medical Association.

Dr. Zhao speaks English and Mandarin.
