Biography

Dr. Lei Zixiong graduated from Beijing Medical University (Medical Department of Peking University), with a MD in 1998 and a PhD in orthopedic surgery from Sun Yat-sen University in 2007. From February 2010 to February 2011, he went to Klinik und Poliklinik für Orthopaedie in Germany to study with Professor Klaus-Peter Günther, former chairman of the German Society of Orthopedics and Trauma (DKOU) and current chairman of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT). During his time in Dresden, Dr. Lei conducted postdoctoral and advanced clinical research of ‘bone and joint tissue engineering reconstruction’.

Dr. Lei has been engaged in orthopedic clinical medicine, teaching and related scientific research for more than 20 years. He has rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases in orthopedics of adults and children, including bone and joint degenerative arthritis, lumbar disc herniation, various bone and soft tissue tumor diseases. He is particularly skilled at bone and soft tissue benign and malignant tumors and tumor-like diseases, standardized neoadjuvant chemotherapy for malignant bone tumors, limb salvage surgery for malignant tumor segments of limbs, artificial joint reconstruction, minimally invasive treatment for primary and metastatic bone tumors, surgical treatment for primary and secondary spinal tumors. His clinical efficacy has reached an advanced level in China and he enjoys an excellent reputation with his patients, fellow colleagues and medical teams.

Dr. Lei has published several clinical research papers in SCI, as well as in various international and domestic journals as a lead author. He has spoken and read papers at international academic conferences and at various national, provincial and ministerial level orthopedic professional conferences. He has attended the International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS) for two consecutive sessions (2017, in Kanazawa, Japan and 2019, in Athens, Greece). The foremost purpose of this leading association is to serve as a forum for intellectual exchange and to improve patient care related to limb salvage interventions. Dr. Lei has also served as a key committee member in several leading Chinese medical societies.
