Biography

Dr. Liang Weiguo graduated from Guangzhou Medical College in 1983. In 1998, he went to Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, USA, to learn from Professor Denis, a famous expert who founded the three Spine Column Theory. In 1999, Dr. Liang furthered his expertise by going to the Orthopedic Department of Kantonsspital Liestal in Switzerland to learn from Professor Ochsner, a famous joint surgery expert. In 2004, he received a Master’s degree in medicine from Jinan University and was appointed as a chief physician. In 2006, he was appointed as an associate professor and master’s supervisor. In 2010, he was appointed as doctoral supervisor. Later in 2021, he was promoted to chief physician of Orthopedics.

Dr. Liang has carried out orthopedic work for over 37 years. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pain in neck, shoulder, chest, waist, leg and limb joint. In addition, Dr. Liang has conducted over 8,000 surgeries of thoracic/cervical/lumbar disc disease, reconstruction of spondylolisthesis, artificial disc replacement, spinal tumor resection, artificial shoulder joint/hip joint/knee joint replacement, and more than 2,000 cases of limb fracture internal fixation surgeries.

He has published 2 books, 20 international SCI articles and more than 100 national core journals. He has won the second prize of Scientific Research Achievements of Guangzhou Municipal Health Bureau and the second prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Guangzhou Municipal Government. Dr. Liang has trained 19 graduates with doctor and master’s degrees.

Dr. Liang has been the chief orthopedic physician, orthopedic director and academic leader in Guangzhou Third-Grade A Hospital since 2007. As an academic leader, he is also appointed as the person-in-charge of medical discipline priority of Guangzhou, the high-level of key clinical department of Guangzhou, the key clinical department of Guangdong province and the most influential department of Guangdong Hospital. He has been rated as a key medical talent of Guangzhou by the Guangzhou municipal government.

Dr. Liang has also served as a committee member in several leading International and Chinese medical societies, including the International Society of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery (SICOT), the AO International Society and so on.
