Pediatric Surgeon, Associate Chief Physician
Dr. Xu graduated from Sun Yat-sen University in 1997. He has worked in The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University since then. During his tenure, Dr. Xu received his medical doctor degree in 2002 and was appraised as a model of medical ethics in The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in 2009. In 2014, he went to SLK Klinikum Heilbronn in Germany to study urological laparoscopic and robotic surgery from the world-famous Professor Rassweiler. After that, he obtained da Vinci’s robotic surgery license in Hong Kong Prince of Wales Hospital in 2015.
Dr Xu has rich clinical diagnosis and treatment experience and deep attainments in pediatric urology (such as hypospadias, hydronephrosis, giant ureter, duplicate kidney), pediatric general surgery (such as thyroglossal duct cyst, branchial cleft cyst, Meckel’s diverticulum), and pediatric tumor surgery (such as neuroblastoma, nephroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, hepatoblastoma). So far, Dr. Xu has performed about 100 da Vinci’s robot-assisted surgeries and achieved excellent clinical results.
Besides, Dr. Xu has also made many achievements in clinical scientific research and has won many medical research and development projects such as the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province and the Science and Technology Program of Guangdong Province. He has published more than 10 papers in a series of Chinese magazines and seven SCI papers in well-known international magazines.
Dr. Xu currently works in several academic organizations in China, serving as a member of the Standing Committee of Pediatric Surgery Branch of Guangdong Medical Association, the Pediatric Oncology Committee of China Anti-Cancer Association, the Oncology Group of Pediatric Surgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association, and the Standing Committee of Pediatric Oncology Group of Guangdong Branch of China Anti-Cancer Association. Dr. Xu is also the leader of the Minimally Invasive Professional Group of Pediatric Surgery Branch of Guangdong Medical Association and the Chairperson of the Youth Committee of Pediatric Oncology Group Guangdong Branch of China Anti-Cancer Association.
Dr. Xu speaks English and Mandarin.
