Hang FANG

Dr. Fang graduated with his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Sun Yat-sen University, and was a recipient of the National Scholarship for doctoral students. During his doctoral studies, he studied abroad at Western University in Canada as a state-funded joint Ph.D. student from 2012 to 2014. Dr. Fang is currently an associate professor and master’s degree supervisor at Southern Medical University, and a deputy chief physician in the Orthopedic Department of the Guangdong Provincial Orthopedic Hospital’s Orthopedic Medical Center. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation projects. In 2024, he was selected for the ZBI Global Surgical Mentorship Program (one of only three spots in the Asia-Pacific region), training under Dr. Peter Sculco at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, USA.

Dr. Fang specializes in intelligent orthopedics, and excels in hip and knee joint replacement and revision surgeries assisted by artificial intelligence and robotics. He has profound expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee osteoarthritis, developmental dysplasia of the hip, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, and other joint diseases, as well as in hip and knee preservation treatments. Precision surgery and rapid recovery are his long-term goals.

During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Fang consistently received the Sun Yat-sen University Outstanding Student Scholarship for five consecutive years. After entering the workforce, he won multiple teaching competitions at the hospital and university level (second prize at the university level and first prize at the faculty level), and was recognized as an advanced individual at the hospital multiple times. He was also included in the “Lingnan Famous Doctors” in 2021, and was awarded the “Young Good Doctor of Yangcheng” in 2023.

Dr. Fang has published more than 10 papers as the first or corresponding author and has been invited to speak at numerous domestic and international conferences. He currently serves in various academic organizations, including being a committee member of the Orthopedic Robotics Group of the Guangdong Medical Association’s Robotics Branch, the Lower Limb Study Group of the Sports Medicine Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association, the Youth Committee of the Joint Surgery Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association, the Youth Physicians Professional Group of the Orthopedic Physicians Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association, and the Single-Cell Technology Branch of the Guangdong Precision Medicine Application Society.
