Shi Xia MIAO

Dr. Miao graduated from the Medical Department of Anhui Medical University in August 1982. She was subsequently assigned to the Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College, where she spent 20 years engaged in medical, educational, and research work in the obstetrics and gynecology department. She has successively held several technical titles such as resident physician, attending physician, deputy chief physician and associate professor, and chief physician, and served as the deputy director of the department and the deputy director of the teaching and research office for 6 years. During her tenure at the Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College, she joined the medical team assisting the Republic of Yemen, working at Abyan Hospital for 2 years, where she handled a large number of difficult births and critically ill patients.

In 2003, she was transferred to the Twelfth People’s Hospital of Guangzhou, where she took full responsibility for the outpatient and inpatient work of the obstetrics and gynecology department. Since her arrival, the department has been rated as an excellent teaching and research department for four consecutive years, and Dr. Miao was appointed as a part-time professor at Guangzhou Medical College.

Dr. Miao excels in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological inflammatory diseases, cervical cancer screening, menstrual disorders, menopause management, infertility, pregnancy terminations, IUD removals, and cervical cerclage procedures.

Dr. Miao serves as an expert for the evaluation of senior professional and technical qualifications in the Guangdong Province health series. She participated in the evaluation of senior professional and technical qualifications in the Guangdong Province health series in 2008 and 2010. Her research project, “A Prospective Study on the Impact of Water Birth on Maternal and Infant Health,” was funded by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. She has published more than 20 related papers, many of which have been published in core journals.
