Childhood Anxiety

Anxiety disorders affect approximately 20% of children at some time in their development and are the most prevalent of psychiatric conditions among children today.

When anxiety and fear become persistent and excessive, causing notable distress or impairment in daily life, they can lead to a diagnosis of a clinical anxiety disorder. Common anxiety disorders in young children are often about separation (from parents, for example) or social situations, and specific fears such as those regarding animals, strangers, or imagined dangers can also develop.

This talk will share with parents several evidence-based strategies that have helped many children suffering from anxiety disorders.
